Hemangi Kavi says, "I feel like I'm giving back to the language that has given me so much when I perform in Marathi theatre"

MUMBAI: Language is the essence of who we are, the defender of our culture, and the most accurate representation of our feelings. It is more than just a means of communication. International Mother Language Day serves as a reminder of the close bond we have with our mother tongue, which is the language we use most naturally for thought, emotion, and self-expression. Stories are told, customs are upheld, and feelings are expressed in their most unadulterated state through our mother tongue. Embracing the ease, self-assurance, and sense of community that come with speaking one's own tongue is just as important as acknowledging the existence of other languages. Hemnagi Kavi from Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye spoke about her passion for her mother tongue and how it has shaped her on this important day.

"My career in the entertainment industry has been interesting, involving diverse roles," said Hemangi Kavi, who plays Bhavani in Zed TV's Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye. I've experimented with a few languages on film, but Marathi is my favourite. I still recall my first-ever Marathi play performance in college. I was anxious, but as soon as I said my first line, I felt like I belonged.  My experience performing in Marathi shows has taught me new skills and allowed me to explore my versatility. The strength of one's mother tongue lies in its ability to make one feel secure and connected. I still feel like I'm giving back to the language that has given me so much when I play in Marathi theatre. My ancestry is my language, which I am quite happy to call my own.''
