Hritik Yadav: Love is not about grand gestures or showing off

MUMBAI: Actor Hritik Yadav, who has been part of shows like Naagin 6, Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein 2, and Dhartiputra Nandini and is currently seen in Apollena—Sapno Ki Unchi Udann, says that he has never believed in public displays of affection. With Valentine’s Day round the corner, he says that he loves quiet celebrations over over-the-top gestures.
“For me, love is personal. It’s not about grand gestures or showing off. I’d rather celebrate in a quiet, meaningful way—just two people, no audience. A simple dinner, a long conversation, or even just sitting together in silence… that’s love for me,” he says.

He adds, “Honestly, yes. A lot of relationships today feel like they exist for Instagram, not for the people in them. Love isn’t about ‘likes’ or ‘couple goals’—it’s about real moments, real emotions. The strongest love stories don’t need an audience. Social media has made love look like a competition—who can post the cutest pictures, who gets the best gifts, who gets the most attention. But real love isn’t about proving something to the world. It’s about what happens when no one’s watching.”

Talking about old school love, he says, “It is rare, but not lost. Old-school love is built on patience, loyalty, and real connection—things that don’t need to be posted online. It’s about late-night talks, a cup of coffee together in the evening, handwritten letters, and standing by each other no matter what. I still believe in that kind of love.”

While grand gestures are great, little things also hold great value in a relationship, he says. “Grand gestures are beautiful when they come from the heart, not for the camera. Love isn’t about expensive gifts or viral surprises—it’s about the little things. Holding hands when no one’s looking, remembering the small details, being there on bad days… that’s romance.”

He says that relationships are not all that perfect. “Don’t fall for what you see online. Real love is messy, imperfect, and takes effort. Find someone who values you beyond Instagram stories—someone who chooses you every day, even when it’s not exciting. That’s the love worth waiting for. Love that’s quiet, deep, and real still exists in stolen glances, in late-night drives with no destination. You just have to look beyond the filters to find it.”
