Amit Behl
Veteran TV actor Amit Behl is mourning. His mother passed away yesterday (18 September) after prolonged illness. His mother, Dr (Mrs) Sudhesh Behl retired as HOD (Head of Department) Hindi Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bhavan’s college, Andheri (Mumbai). She also was an eminent voice over artist and recorded many audio books for the blind. Mrs Behl also anchored shows for Doordarshan and Radio (All India Radio and Vivid Bharati). “Mummy also got Best Teacher Award for several years. Many people in the industry (Neer Munir, Rakesh Choudhary etc) who have been her students. She also was culturally and socially very active,” shared Amit. “She fell ill in 2009 due to double stroke after that she has been in and out of hospital. Her condition of late was bad, we feared that something might happen within a month or two, but did not expect it to happen so soon. I was shooting for Buddha when my wife called. We had a difficulty in getting a doctor due to the last day of Ganpati Visarjan, finally he came and declared her dead.” “In a way we say she escaped from all the suffering. She had lost 45 kilos due to her illness. My dad also was suffering along with her. It was heart breaking to see a well built Punjabi woman reduced to just bones. ” “She was a very big Ganpati bhakt and the fact that she eventually passed away on Anant Chaturdashi (last day of the festical) is a matter of some satisfaction.” In closing, Amit requests all to pray for her soul. “I am still in a state of shock; I think it will take me a few days for the entire thing to sink in. But at the same time I need to be strong for my wife and younger brother,” he ends. Amit we pray that you get the strength to face this irreparable loss.
