MUMBAI: Akshay Nalawade has spent his fair share of time in the industry. The actor is currently seen as Garud Dev in Shiv Shakti: Tap Tyag Tandav and Kakbhushundi Ramayan and shared that instead of focusing on the fame that comes with his work, he stresses on bettering his craft.
He said, “I remind myself that fame is a byproduct of the work, not the goal. What truly matters is staying focused on the craft and remembering why I started acting in the first place. That keeps me grounded when things feel overwhelming.”
He further said that he makes sure that he creates boundaries between his personal and public life, and added, “I don’t feel the need to share everything online, and I protect my quiet time—whether it’s with family, close friends, or simply being by myself—because that helps me recharge.”
His prayers keep him motivated. He said, “I pray, I chant, and I believe in God. Whenever I feel down or low, chanting is like my recharge button. I also meditate, which works like medicine for me.”
The industry that it is, even Akshay has faced his share of rejections, however, he doesn’t let them doubt himself. “As actors, we go through rejections—it’s part of our lives. We all experience it, because you can’t fit into every role.”
“Of course, I feel low at times, but self-doubt is not my thing. I have a clear mindset: I’m going to keep trying, keep getting better, and reach greater heights in my profession. There’s no looking back, and self-doubt isn’t even the last thing on my mind,” he added.
How do you disconnect from work? “I try to maintain a routine where I mentally and physically switch off from work once I wrap a shoot. That might mean spending time with family, cooking, traveling, or simply being in nature. These simple things help me reconnect with who I am beyond the camera,” Akshay ended.
