I used to check out girls during Puja celebrations: Mainak Banerjee

Mainak Banerjee

Durga Pujo means the sound of dhak (a musical instrument), the mesmerising smell of shiuli flower and dhunuchi nach (incense dance) feels Mainak Banerjee, who was last seen in Raj Chakraborty’s ‘Borbaad’. He recently also made a guest appearance on Colors Bangla’s 'Meera'.

The actor opines that in the earlier days there was a different feel and charm during this occasion.

“Earlier Pujo meant shopping at New Market, and now it’s an age of malls and online shopping and having fun with para (localitiy) friends,” quipped the actor.

He added saying, “I don’t say these changes are bad. After all, we have to move on with the new developments. But yes, those memories are close to my heart.”

The actor says Pujo also means prem (love) for him.

“Puja means checking out the gorgeous saree clad girls at the pandals and then falling in love. These crushes used to last only for few days and then we would all move on. I have had many crushes back then,” smiled the actor.

When we quizzed were you a Casanova? He defended himself saying, “No, I was not a Casanova. I was simply a flirt, and I still enjoy it (winks).”

The actor is planning to wear kurta pajama on Ashthami and given a chance would love to perform dhunuchi nach as he is fond of this dance.

Ask him what he dislikes during Pujas, and pat came the reply, “Traffic jam.”

Mainak, will be soon seen in the short film ‘Barood’ and will kick-start shooting from November for Sumit Bose’s upcoming romantic comedy ‘Jhuth Bole Kauwa Kaate’.
