I wanted an arranged marriage: Asha Negi

Asha Negi
MUMBAI: She is pleasing to talk to and spreads a ray of positivity with her beaming smile and persona. We are talking about the very bubbly and talkative Asha Negi, who captured the hearts of millions as Poorvi in popular show Pavitra Rishta. The gorgeous actress recently made a comeback with ALTBalaji’s romantic series Baarish.

In a chat with TellyChakkar, Asha spoke about the success of Baarish, her definition of love, arranged marriages, and more.

I didn’t expect that Baarish will get so much love from people

I am very happy with the response that Baarish has received from viewers. I didn’t expect that we will get so much love from people. Even Ekta Ma’am herself was shocked, as she didn’t expect it to this extent. I enjoyed working with Sharman (Joshi). He is a fun-loving person, and not many are aware, but he is very naughty. The entire team bonded well.

Web is not boring and monotonous

I would to love explore the digital platform more, as the commitment is shorter and the concepts are unique. Web is not boring and monotonous. Also, as an actor, there is more scope to perform.

I will never say no to TV

TV has given me name and fame, and I don’t think I will ever say no to TV. I will surely take up a show if it is finite and if the story excites me.

I would choose acting first

I enjoyed my journey as a host in Indian Idol. My co-host Hussain is such a darling and gentleman. Since it was my first show as a host, I had the liberty to goof-up. But if someone asks me, then I would choose acting before hosting.

I wanted an arranged marriage

When I was young, I wanted an arranged marriage. I used to visualise ladke wale ghar aaye hai, chai leke jana. I am huge fan of the film Vivah, and it would give me butterflies whenever I used to watch it. However, there are no possibilities of arranged marriage because I have already found the love of my life.

Love for me is more about maturity and understanding now

Initially, for me, love was all about being mushy, but with time passing and being in a relationship for six years now, I have realized love is about taking care of each other. Recently, when I was hospitalized, Rithvik took care of me and made sure I get fit soon. Love for me is more about maturity and understanding now. Also, being with your partner in good and bad times is true love. These days, people give up on relationships easily, but Rithvik and I make sure to talk it out. Rithvik believes in one thing: if there are any problems, then talk it out instead of avoiding each other.

As an actor, I had the fear of 'out of sight, out of mind'

I have heard that out of sight is out of mind, and I too had that fear. But with time passing, I overcome that fear. If I love acting and if I am a good actor, then I will surely make it.

I want to now come out of my comfort zone and challenge myself

If it is a great project and if the story demands it, then I have no issues in going bold. I am shy as a person, and I want to really come out of my comfort zone and challenge myself.

There is still time for marriage

There is still time for marriage. I don’t think we are prepared for the responsibilities yet. But eventually marriage will surely happen, and the world would know.
