Once at the office of Tellychakkar.com, guest editor Shruti Ulfat took a snappy interview (over phone) of Mouni Roy. Shruti played Mouni’s mother in Life OK’s Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq (Beyond Dreams Production).
When asked if she was happy being part of Junoon, Mouni replied, “Yes, very much. Soon, we will complete a year now and all said and done, the journey has been very satisfying. Initially when the show was launched, we used to shoot in the scorching heat in Jodhpur and at the end of the day look like black complexioned farmers (giggles). I am lucky to play Meera and am sure you won’t get to see such a kind of role on Indian television today.”
The show is not managing to garner much TRPs. What could be the reason behind it? “A lot should be done on the TRP front. There is a no iota of doubt that the show has a different concept and a very powerful storyline. But I think, due to the soft launch of the serial and less of promotion and marketing, it did not carry well. And currently, mostly all the shows are suffering due the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League),” the lady observed.
How has been your rapport with your co-stars? “We have a very friendly atmosphere on the sets and all of us get along very well. Everyone from the director to the actors to crew members are very helpful. One of my close friends is you (Shruti) and it has been my honour to work with you,” Mouni answered.
Your take on reality shows like Bigg Boss and Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa? “Well, till now I have participated in many reality shows and in future too I don’t mind being a part of dance reality shows as I enjoy dancing a lot. Someday, I would love to do Jhalak. Since reality shows are like extended events, it is a great experience for all the actors to be part of such shows. Talking about Bigg Boss, I would prefer watching it rather than participating in it,” she maintained.
So when is marriage happening and will you work after getting hitched? “I don’t know when, but even I want to settle down and have kids. And I will surely work after marriage but not like the way I am doing currently. I would equally balance my personal and professional life,” she replied.
Your reaction on your link up with Mohit Raina? “No personal questions please,” Mouli quipped.
Any actors from the current lot with whom you would like to work with? “Everyone is good and there is no one in particular. But yes, it was great working with Mohit Raina (Mahadev) and now with Aditya Redij. In future, I would love to work with them again,” she felt.
What kind of roles would you like to do in future? “I would love to play a rockstar.”
Do you like to interact with your fans on social networking sites? “I am not on Facebook but I do interact with my fans on Twitter. It is the best way to engage with them and get feedbacks,” Mouli maintains.
On the personal front, how do you unwind yourself? “I like reading books and also like to watch international shows like Revenge, Grey's Anatomy, Vampire, Scandal, Games of Thrones and many more. I also like to travel. I like to eat Bengali food and prefer spicy food over sweets. My favourite dishes are samosas and aam raas. Of course, rice is a must,” she answered.
Before bidding adieu, Mouli exclaimed, “Shruti, I miss your handmade rice noodles. Like a vampire who dies to drink blood, similarly I die for your rice noodles (laughs).
