It’s an enriching experience: Dheeraj Juneja on being a part of Star Plus’ 5 Star Kitchen

Dheeraj opens up on his experience shooting for 5 Star Kitchen

MUMBAI: In order to kill the quarantine blues and make the lockdown diaries interesting, Star Plus’ launched a one-of-its kind show called 5 Star Kitchen. The show is aired on Saturday and Sunday at 11 am wherein the anchor Dheeraj Juneja takes the audience through interesting recipes by ITC chefs.

TellyChakkar.com got in touch with Dheeraj and in a candid interview, the handsome lad opened up about the experience of shooting for the show amid lockdown. Read on.

How do you shoot for it?

It’s fun and challenging at the same time to achieve production standards of a TV production while shooting at home. It begins with a conference video call with the director and producer. We decide the set and the frame as per the script of the show. They know each and every corner of my house now. The shoot happens on phone and my wife has become the director of photography. She shoots very patiently and is now used to handling my tantrums.

How's the experience of the same?

It's very enriching, I would say. I am the dress dada, I am the makeup didi, I am the light man, I am the spot boy and I am the presenter as well. I have done shoots on big sets, studios and stadiums but this experience has made me realize that even with less, a lot can be achieved.

Your reaction when you saw the outcome of the shoots.

I was very pleased when I saw the promo. I got up early on a lockdown Saturday to watch the show at 11 am.  It’s my first ever stint with Star Plus, so it mattered even more. I am really happy that all the hard work and efforts have paid off well. I got a lot of calls from my family and friends. They were like, “Ye sachchi mein phone pe shoot kiya tha?”

Did you try any of the recipes from the show?

Yes, I made Doddak Dosa by ITC chef Tanvi Chandawarkar, Healthy Dilli Ki Chaat by ITC chef Shivneet Pohoja and my own recipe of Shahi Paani, which has become a joke between family and friends.
