It was not just women who related with the character of Jyoti, but men who had taken up responsibility of running the show too: Sneha Wagh

MUMBAI: With an industry almost full of Saas Bahu dramas, especially 10 years back, it was a very courageous step by the team of Jyoti to make a beautiful show portraying such strong female characters. The show talks about how Jyoti has taken the responsibilities of the whole family on her shoulders and the difficulties she has to face while making ends meet.

It was a unique show and concept way ahead of its time but connected effortlessly with the audience. Viewers had something fresh to watch because of how it dealt with everyday issues. When asked about how the audience reacted to the show, Sneha Wagh who played the title role says, “It was not just women who related with the character, but men who had taken up the responsibility of running the house also used to resonate to Jyoti a lot. I used to get a lot of fan-mail, saying Jyoti (used to address me by my character name) we connect to you because we are also handling the duties of our family. Thinking back, gone are those days when it is no longer only a man’s responsibility to run the show.”

It is necessary to bring such strong character-based shows to screen because in today’s day and age there is nothing like only a man or a woman is supposed to do. In a patriarchal society like ours, it is necessary for such stories to reach to the masses.

Jyoti is currently airing on Dangal TV at 10am & 10pm.

Dangal TV is available in all leading cable networks and DTH platforms –DD Free Dish (CHN NO 27), Tata Sky(CHN NO 177), Airtel (CHN NO 133), Dish TV (CHN NO 119) and Videocon D2H (CHN NO 106).
