MUMBAI: Actor Kettan Singh is not one to get bogged down by the competition that has crept into showbiz with the advent of the web. The actor says that all that matters is how you perform. “I do not feel insecure about anything. Each platform has its own pros and cons and as long as you are doing good work, it doesn’t matter whether it is the small screen or a web series or films, you have to do your good work and give your best shot,” he says.
In fact, he says that the working style of all platforms is very different but all require you to act well. “Acting is acting but the mediums are different, so the behaviour of an actor changes a lot. Now, people from theatre don’t have retakes so they do a lot of rehearsals. But television actually teaches you a lot of patience because there are small scenes and an actor learns to act in front of the camera, behave in a certain way. In films and OTT platforms, it is the same. But content is king in all mediums,” he says.

Talking about his own journey, he says, “I was first a radio jockey and I always wanted to be an actor. But when I started my television career, it actually started as a writer. I was writing for Nautanki, the comedy theatre when the director of the show decided that I can act as well. So, he put me in one of the gags with Sunil Grover, Sumith Raghavan and Saloni. I remember all these actors as this was my first acting experience.”
Ask him who are his role models, and he says, “I have got many sources of inspiration and role models. Like I follow the work of Jagjit Singh when I sing. I also adore Shreya Ghoshal, the way she is. Of course, I can’t sing like any of them. In comedy, I love Mehmood Sahab, I love Kishore Kumar, I love the timing that Charlie Chaplin has.”
