Kinshuk Mahajan is enjoying his stint in Afsar Bitiya

Although Kinshuk Mahajan is happy with the way his Zee TV show Afsar Bitiya show is framing up, he feels that, “one major drawback with this Darbanga (Bihar) based story is that although the show has been on air for nearly nine months, the actual story has not really opened up. “The layers of most of the characters have yet to be unraveled. Sargam (Amandeep Sohi) only died recently and the saga is now beginning to move. Apparently, Amandeep’s character was initially written for three months but was stretched much longer,” shared Kinshuk. Kinshuk also laments the fact that “one of the other major reasons for the show not doing well on the ratings front (1 TVR) is that the seeding of TAM boxes in our target area of Jharkhand and Bihar is quite limited.” He continued, “But we are hearing that the number of boxes may be increased hence we are keeping our fingers crossed. He also accepted that the 7 pm time slot is one more reason for the low numbers, “We have very strong competition from rival shows as well.” Coming to his character , Pintoo Singh, he said, “It is quite a challenge to play the romantic scenes with Krishna (Mitali Nag) as she does not show her sensitive side because of her character’s tough life upbringing and plus the fact that she is a BDO (Block Development Officer).” Kinshuk, who has done sweet lover boy characters before in Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai, Chand Chupa Badal Mein, stated, “This bindaas approach of Pintoo Singh in Afsar Bitiya comes across as a refreshing change . As a result for the first time I am also getting a male fan following which I had not got till now. People working at petrol pumps and other areas are now beginning to recognize me as well .”
