With India facing great economic pressure and social injustice, people are crying out for some kind of divine intervention. As today is Janmashtami and Krishna Bhagwan is regarded as taran har (saviour), we asked a few TV stars whether they believe that time has come for the Lord to reincarnate and solve the worries of this world.
Gaurav Chopraa says (Uttaran) said, “Such feelings of despair have always been felt. We need someone to help us out. I am sure our parents’ and grandparents’ generations have also felt the same at some of point time in their lives. In today’s scenario, women need most help and the manner Krishna saved Draupadi could be a metaphor which women would want recreated.”
Here Gaurav added that his character (Raghuvendra Pratap Rathod) in Uttaran was called Krishna Bhagwan by the creative team.
“He is not around for the moment and others are in a mess but he will soon make an appearance and solve everyone’s issues.”
However Sachin Parikh says, “God will not make a landing, and only the government of the day can change things for the better. We just hope they take correct steps, which will give common man some breathing space. Things are quite bad with the rupee in a free fall, crumbling infrastructure and rising vegetables prices. ”
Ridhima Tewary thinks time is ripe for Kalki (Vishnu’s last avatar) to make a appearance. “His look should be just like that of Akshay Kumar in the film, Oh My God. He will need to ensure that the current political mismanagement which stems from the top is ended in any way possible. The sad part is that people don’t follow the good example of Krishna, that he was a good and just ruler. They just misinterpret his raas leela example.”
Furthermore, Sambhavna Seth adds, “Things have become so bad now that we just need a saviour, any God (Krishna, Shiv or Ram) will do.”
She also rejected the view of some that Krishna Bhagwan himself was wrong as he had many women in his life. “He never lied like today’s men, all the gopis then knew exactly how much and in what form (pure) Krishna Bhagwan loved them.”
She also laughed at the question of what form should he take? “If somebody does good that is more important. Why do you care if he wears a jeans or a chaddi?”
Dimple Jhangiani (Mrs Pammi Pyarelal) thinks Krishna Bhagwan is the best God to reincarnate in the present times.
“He knew how to play the game. Even in the Mahabharat, he did not play exactly by the book for he knew that the opposition will also not play fair. He also mentored Arjun, when the latter started to get swayed by emotions. We need someone like him who will guide our present lot of political and social leaders.”
In closing we asked them who was the leader of our time who could follow the right path as prescribed by Krishna Bhagwan. Ridhima said, “I think Narendra Modi for he represents the authoritarian streak which we badly need now to bring things back to order at a time when the current leadership seems to be in a deep slumber.”
Sachin on his part refused to name any particular leader saying, “They all have their own prescriptions. I am not equipped enough to comment on them. I just hope that take the required steps which are needed to bring the nation out of the current bad patch. But if we do meet Krishna Bhagwan, the one song we can sing would be kitna badal gaya insaan.”
Krishna…come back and make this world a better place to live!!!
