Aayush Shrivastava from ‘Shamshaan Champa’ Shares His Excitement and Fond Memories for Janmashtami

Aayush Shrivastava

MUMBAI: As Janmashtami draws near, the air buzzes with excitement as the blessings of Lord Krishna infuse everything with divine joy. Aayush Shrivastava, the star of Shemaroo Umang’s supernatural show ‘Shamshaan Champa,’ takes a nostalgic trip down memory lane, recalling the cherished childhood moments that make this festival so special. From relishing his favourite festive sweets to the thrill of Dahi Handi competitions, Aayush’s stories are filled with the joy and magic that Janmashtami brings. As he shares his celebration plans, his reflections capture the essence of this auspicious occasion, reminding us all of the deep-rooted happiness this festival brings each year.

Aayush Shares his Childhood Nostalgia "Janmashtami holds a special place in my heart, bringing back a flood of childhood memories. Growing up in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, I was surrounded by the vibrant celebrations of this festival. We used to organise ‘matki phod’ with friends, sing bhajans, and immerse ourselves in the spirit of the occasion. Even now, my family continues the tradition by celebrating Krishna's birth at midnight, and one of my favourite bhajans to sing is 'Achutam Keshavam.' The festival is a beautiful reminder of the joy and devotion that Krishna brings into our lives."

He adds "This year, I'll most likely be shooting on Janmashtami, given that our show is now on air. But I'm hopeful that we might celebrate on set, keeping the festive spirit alive. While I haven't yet had the opportunity to portray Krishna, it's been a deep desire of mine. The teachings from the Bhagavad Gita, particularly from the Karma Yoga chapters, have profoundly influenced me. Krishna's message about performing our duties without attachment to the results has guided me through challenging times."

Aayush Srivastava plays Vikram, a modern thinker dedicated to science and logic, whose past trauma and protective nature towards his family add depth to his character. Despite his family's strong beliefs in the supernatural, Vikram remains firmly rooted in rationality. His world is dramatically altered when he encounters Champa, a daayan who is unique, challenging his beliefs and igniting a thrilling clash between logic and the supernatural. Aayush’s portrayal of Vikram promises to deliver a captivating and emotionally charged performance.

Stay tuned to watch ‘Shamshaan Champa’ every Monday-Saturday at 9:00 PM only on Shemaroo Umang.
