Yash Chopra would be proud with this one. A new tri-weekly soap (Doordarshan claims it’s the first time it has given a show three days of telecast in a week) with a very filmi title Tum Dena Saath Mera began telecast yesterday (Monday, November 23). Did we say the soap would make Yash Chopra proud? Well, it’s set in the rich sarson ke fields of Punjab and is a love story of Simran, who lost her eyes in an accident and her childhood love, who lost his speech. While they still love each other, whether Simran’s father Gurnaam Singh will allow his daughter to marry her love forms the crux of Tum Dena Saath Mera. The channel hopes that the show produced by Filmtonic’s model-actor-director Rahul Bhat will be one of its driver shows. Well, we hope this soapy love story too stands the test of TRPs and rival shows. Tum Dena Saath Mera will air on DD 1 at 9.30 pm
