Malhar Pandya on His Acting Journey and Playing Suryadev

Malhar Pandya

MUMBAI: Malhar Pandya, currently portraying Suryadev in Veer Hanuman, is no stranger to mythological roles. With a career spanning over a decade, he has portrayed significant characters in shows like Ramayan, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, Suryaputra Karn, Radha Krishn, and Shrimad Ramayan. However, he remains selective about his public presence, preferring to let his work speak for itself.

Pandya’s last appearance was in Shrimad Ramayan, where he played Suryaputra Sugriv. Now, in Veer Hanuman, he takes on the divine role of Suryadev, a transition he finds intriguing. “Suryadev has influenced my life indirectly through my previous characters. I played Suryaputra Karn in Radha Krishn and Suryaputra Sugriv in Shrimad Ramayan. And now, I am playing Suryadev himself,” he shares.

His preparation for the role involved studying ancient texts and understanding the divine aura of Suryadev. “I worked on my voice modulation, posture, and expressions to reflect his power and grace. Physically, the biggest challenge is carrying the elaborate costume, especially the crown and wig, for long hours,” he explains. Despite these challenges, he gets into character in just 25 minutes. While mythological shows have been a significant part of his career, Pandya considers Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki as his landmark show. “I played a grey-shaded character, Pawan Malhotra, which resonated with the audience. The complexity and relatability of the character made it special for me,” he says.  Unlike many actors who seek the limelight, Pandya prefers a quieter path. “Due to certain challenges in life, I’ve chosen to maintain a low profile. It’s a personal decision that allows me to focus on what truly matters while keeping my peace and privacy. Quality over noise, always,” he asserts.

For him, the essence of acting lies in storytelling. “The best thing about being an actor is stepping into different lives and telling meaningful stories. It’s enriching, transformative, and a unique way to connect with people,” he reflects. With Veer Hanuman, Pandya continues to explore the world of mythology, bringing characters to life with dedication and authenticity.
