Mauli, Karunya in; Rahul, Vineet out of Mahamuqabla

We had earlier reported that Star Plus’ next big ticket show, tentatively titled Music Premier League, being produced by Gajendrra Siingh’s Saibaba Telefilms is to hit airwaves in December. And for this weekend musical reality show, the stage is set for six teams comprising of talented singers; be it winners, runners up and promising singers across the channels. Giving an insight into the show our source says, “The show which was tentatively called MPL (Music Premier League) is now titled Music Ka Mahamuqabla. There will be six teams comprising of four participants each. Each team would comprise of three reality show contestants and a commoner who would be brought in through auditions. Every team will have one mentor and the six mentors who are on-board are Himesh Reshammiya, Mohit Chauhan, Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Shankar Mahadevan and Mika. Mika initially was reluctant about doing the show but has now given his nod.” The source adds, “Popular names and reality show contestants Rahul Vaidya and Vineet Singh were almost finalised but the deal didn’t materialise owing to monetary differences. Indian Idol season two, runner up Karunya along with firebrand Mauli Dave will be seen in the show. Other contestants on the list are Anwesha Datta and Aishwarya Majumdar from Chhote Ustaad and Abhaas Doshi and Ameya Date. Ayushmann Kurrana is almost confirmed as the host of the show.” When contacted, Ayushmann refused to comment.
