Mihika Verma 'is excited' and is 'looking forward' for Ye Hai Mohabbatein to go on air

Mihika Verma
Mihika Verma gets back to television full fledged with the long-awaited Balaji Telefilms show Ye Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus. However, the actress says that the wait has been justified, for she will be getting an image-makeover through her role of Mihika Iyer in the show. Mostly known for her vampish roles in popular daily shows Kitani Mohabbat Hai, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Mihika will play an outright positive character, who is bubbly and confident about herself. She is the brave-hearted younger sister of the female protagonist Ishita Iyer, essayed by Divyanka Tripathi. Says Mihika, “I had to vanish from the screen for some time, and I was clearly told not to take up any negative role. I play myself in Ye Hain Mohabbatein, a girl who is carefree, bindass, with a pure heart. It is a challenge in itself to play positive roles. I have always been the ‘woh’ in a couple’s happy married life, or have got to play the complete vamp. But audience will see me a different avatar in this show.” In addition to having an image makeover, Mihika had yet another plus point when she signed up for the show. Not many know that Mihika is a half Punjabi and a half Tamilian in real life. “My mother is chaste Tamil Iyer and I know the language Tamil in and out. My father is a Punjabi, and with my mother not knowing Hindi at all, we grew up learning both the languages,” avers the actress. So how much of a Tamil is being used in Ye Hain Mohabbatein? “Well, the family of the female protagonists are Tamilians, and we have used a little bit of Tamil in the conversations. However, the simple mind of Tamilians will be depicted in the show. The manner in which they excel in the things they do and want perfection has been depicted.” Mihika is the go-to person on the sets for any clarification on the Tamil language and accent. “Well, we have a bunch of hard-working actors and they do their homework before shooting for every sequence. But yes, when anyone has a doubt in a certain Tamil word or in its accent, they come to me for help. And I am always ready to put in my bit (smiles). Divyanka and I have a whale of a time shooting together. She is an angel to work with.” Adding on, the beautiful lady says, “We have been waiting for this show to happen for quite some time now. We have now got the airing date finally, and are happy with the 11 PM slot on Star Plus. I am thankful to Ekta Mam (Kapoor) for giving me this role. She simply told me, be yourself on the screen and you will do wonders. I am so looking forward for our show to be on air.” Mihika, we wish you all the luck for your new avatar on TV.
