MUMBAI : Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor Mohsin Khan talked about a fan interaction he had with Shah Rukh Khan, who had visited the sets of his program to promote Jab Harry Met Sejal. He also gave King Khan credit for his television acting career.

He revealed, “Shah Rukh Khan sahab had come on the sets of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai to promote Jab Harry Met Sejal. We were all so nervous that Shah Rukh Khan was coming and we were shooting. Nobody mentioned that we should be rehearsing the scene, every one of us was standing quietly anticipating SRK’s arrival.”
Thoroughly left impressed and speechless by the Superstar, Mohsin said, “Then, he himself asked whether we read the script or not. And we all were like, ‘Yes sir, we do’. So, we sat down and read a scene. He must have read the scene only once. It was a long scene. and not a single fumble, nothing. He had read a bit in the vanity (van) a couple of hours before coming on set. After that we did one reading and we finished the whole scene. That man, he doesn’t forget one word. He says his lines exactly how it is written, including the full stop. And then he would improvise and then react to it too. He is king for a reason.”
He further said, “I was very nervous, extremely nervous. When our show Dream Girl had released, at the Star Screen Awards that year, it was a live event. There, he had introduced us as the star cast of Dream Girl (Ek Ladki Deewani Si).”
Mohsin further said, “There is a small story behind it. I was from Kandivali (a Mumbai suburb), so wherever I had to go, I’d travel in a train or take a bus to go to Bandra, for work or for shopping. After a bit, one of my friends bought a bike, so our days changed. Before that we used to take the local train or the public bus. Finally we had a bike, but the bike would break down too often. Once it broke down in Bandra, and we suddenly saw a crowd coming towards us. We got scared, we didn’t know what was happening. We happened to see up and we saw that Shah Rukh Khan sahab was standing there, on his terrace. We were exactly below the terrace. That was the first time we saw Shah Rukh Khan’s house Mannat and how he greets his fans. The moment he waved, people went berserk. There was a sea of people coming to see him. That is the aura of Shah Rukh Khan.”
He concluded, “I had done Nisha Aur Uske Cousins. We knew it would go one for four to five months. I didn’t know whether I would continue acting after that or not. Around that time I was praying at a masjid in Juhu (Mumbai) and I don’t know why I had prayed that if two things happen, I’ll continue acting. One, I wanted to meet Shashi Kapoor sahab. I don’t know why. I was aware that he was ageing, was going through a treatment. The second wish was that if I continue working in TV in the future, I’ll do it only if Shah Rukh Khan sahab introduces me.”
