Javed Akhtar’s Parents
Akhtar has poetry in his soul and why not, he was raised by the family of poets. Javed Akhtar’s father was a famous Urdu poet. His father Jan Nisar Akhtar and mother Safia Akhtar raise Javed Akhtar. Javed’s grandfather Muztar Khairabadi, and his grandfather's older brother, Bismil Khairabadi, were also poets.
Honey Irani
Javed Akhtar married Honey Irani in 1972. They met each other on the sets of Seeta Aur Geeta. While Javed was scriptwriter, Honey was an actress on the set. The couple became parents of their son Farhan Akhtar and daughter Zoya Akhtar.
Their marriage came to an end after Javed Akhtar became engaged with actress Shabana Azmi.

Shabana Azmi
Javed Akhtar’s second wife was Shabana Azmi. The popular actress became a part of Akhtar family after her relationship was called off with Benjamin Gilani.

Famous filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is Javed Akhtar’s and Honey Irani’s daughter. Zoya is renowned for directing films like Luck by Chance, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do’ and Gully Boy.
Farhan Akhtar
Zoya Akhtar’s brother Farhan Akhtar is the son of Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani. The actor has directed the cult film Dil Chahta Hai.The following year, he also won the National Award for Best Hindi Film for his directorial debut.
