MUMBAI: Playing Jagdamba Devi in Sun Neo's upcoming series Rishto Se Bandhi Gauri, Swati Shah discusses the amazing power of women. She discusses how women skilfully manage many facets of life, handling obligations with dignity and commitment, in honour of Women's Day.
"I think that strength is not just about resilience but also about the ability to balance different aspects of life, and women embody this beautifully," Swati says in response to her mother's impact. In retrospect, my mother exemplified this perfectly by raising a combined family, caring for my grandmother, and still doing exceptionally well at work. I learnt the value of time management and preserving balance between personal and professional life from her ability to handle everything with grace. I greatly respect such courage and determination, and I try to embody them in the roles I play.
She also emphasises how storytelling has a profound effect on viewers and how television honours strong women. Regardless matter whether the show is geared towards women or men, viewers of television have an amazing appreciation for stories. It will always be appreciated if the substance is strong. It has been a true honour for me to play strong ladies. Similar to how a parent cannot select a favourite kid, I am unable to identify a particular role as my favourite as the strength of each of the female roles I have portrayed is what makes them unique. I believe that television's tremendous affinity for female-led stories is what makes it such a potent medium that it mirrors our society.
Stay tuned for Rishto Se Bandhi Gauri from March 10th at 8:30 PM, Monday to Sunday, on Sun Neo.
