1.    Na Aana Is Des Laado is coming on COLORS after 8 years. What is it about the show that makes it so appealing?

A.       What made Na Aana Is Des Laado so appealing was the subject matter it dealt with. There were not many shows that had delved into the topic of female feticide and that’s why it made it so powerful and interesting. Another factor that made it so appealing was the combination of actors. While some were new to acting, some were revered names from the theatre. Each day, every single crew member would give their 100 percent and come together seamlessly to ensure the show was successful. I am glad that the show is back on television once again and I am certain it will turn out to be a treat for the audience.

2.    Did you think the show brought about some change in society? What are your fan experiences on the show? Tell us about your engagement with the fans on this, and how was the experience?

A.      I do not like using the term fans, but I do remember a lot of viewers did visit our show sets, and the kind of response we would get from them was heartwarming. They were so happy with my performance. They always said that the kind of intensity I put in my character made their heart melt. I would receive a lot of gifts as a token of appreciation from them as well. I am so glad that I kept my character as real as possible, because of which I have always loved my work and continue to do so even today.

Tell us something about the character you played in the show. How did the audience connect with it?

A.      Na Aana Is Des Laado was my debut show and  I played the lead protagonist, Sia, a girl child born and brought up in an urban space. Knowing her roots, she worked towards bringing about a change in the lives of rural women. It reflected her fight against society and I believe a lot of women connected with Sia’s character at different stages of the show. Right from the start of the show when Sia saves a girl child, to convince the women to educate themselves and fight for their rights, she relentlessly works to bring about a change.

4.    What was the biggest positive impact that the show had on you?

A.      The biggest the impact that the show had on me was that I became a more mature actor after playing the role of Sia. I had to play three different sides of my characters, Ammaji’s daughter-in-law, Raghav’s wife and Jahnvi and Dia’s mother.  It was my debut show and acting was uncharted territory for me. I tried to absorb everything around me with the help of the entire cast and crew. I got to learn so much in the company of some of the great actors and overall, it has been an enriching journey.

What are some of the best memories of shooting for the show?

A.       I remember we had an outdoor shoot in Ravalgaon where we shot a scene near a baavdi. I had to climb more than 100 steps and keep repeating it until we got the best shot. The scene went on for a couple of days and it was a lot of hard work, but also one of the best memories.

Who did you bond with most on the set?

A.      I bonded well with everyone on the set, especially with the women from the Ammaji clan.

What is it about the show that you have missed the most?

A.       I have missed the whole aura of the show. It had an old-school charm which I adored the most. I miss shooting together for long hours and playing Sia, which brought out my best potential as an actor.
