What in the world is up with Shaheer Sheikh and Soumya Seth starrer Star Plus' show Navya? The news came in filtering that the show is all set to go off air on 13 February 2012. It was confirmed news. But now there is a change in the scheme of things. And of course, we are the ones who will disseminate the information first. Almost a week ago, the channel decided to pull the plug on Navya as the 10pm youth love story was not raking in the numbers (2.4TVR). But with passing days, the numbers improved (reached 3.4TVR-average of 3 TVR) and the channel got inundated with phone calls and emails from fans asking the show to be continued. So, the authorities had a change of heart and they decided to give Navya an extension. Yes, all you fans out there can scream aloud for a while. Okay…now that you folks are done, read on. The soap will air at the early evening 6pm slot from 14 February 2012. Producer of the show Siddharth Tewary (Swastik Pictures) confirmed the news and said, “It is a new slot and a new challenge and the entire team of Navya is looking forward to it.” We also talked to Snigdha Pandey, who plays the negative lead Rama Bhabhi, and she said, “Navya is very novel and radical in its approach and is very hugely popular among the youth. Proof of which is over four lakhs tweets which were sent to save the show. The 6pm slot might work as most school and college students (main audience of the show) are home by then.” However, our sources went on to say that the fans of Navya need to be a bit circumspect as the 6 pm slot is a very new one. Recently, Zee TV had tried to open the early evening band of 6 pm and 6.30 pm with Geeta Ka Dharma Yudh and Bhagonwali Baante Apni Taqdeer, which had not worked. Hence, this might be Star Plus’ attempt to give a last chance (three or four months) to Navya and also simultaneously experiment with further opening of its Fixed Programming Chart. This number one GEC channel already airs Hemal Thakkar produced Ruk Jaana Nahi at 6.30 pm. Furthermore, the source further informed that the creatives at the Swastik Pictures had a hard time over the last one week as they had to change the story to give it a logical end and now they have to again tweak it to continue. Hmm…this is the uncertain but amazing world of television. You never know what surprises will come out of the kitty. So just sit back and enjoy!!!
