Nilanjana Purkyasstha, Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal to produce a historical for Epic TV

Old buddies and colleagues at Star India Pvt. Ltd., Nilanjana Purkayasstha, Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal have joined hands for the formation of a new production house…named ‘Pride Rock Television’, the production house we hear, is working on quite a lot of things and has some interesting plans for television in the near future. A reliable source tells us that Pride Rock Television is working on a unique historical concept for the to-be-launched Epic TV, India’s first genre-specific channel. Epic as per sources, is headed for a soft launch sometime in October 2013. However, this show of Nilanjana, Deepak and Sameer will be placed in the second set of launches which will happen sometime in December 2013. The yet untitled show will be episodic stories wherein the makers will traverse through many years starting from Ancient India to the Mughal rule. The episodic stories will talk in length about different rulers over the years, who are still remembered for their works. The casting is presently on for this show, and the makers plan to go on floor very soon. As we know, Sameer Nair was earlier the CEO of Star Entertainment India, who later went on to launch Imagine channel. Deepak Segal has earlier served as Senior VP, Star India while Nilanjana Pukayasstha has earlier served as Creative Director of Star India and NDTV Imagine, Business Head at Sahara One, Business Head at BAG Films before she went on to jointly produce the successful Chandragupta Maurya for Imagine under her own banner 72 Degrees Northe along with Sagar Arts. We tried calling Nilanjana to know more about her new company, but she remained unavailable for comments. Keep watching this space for more new developments.
