It is unbelievably sad when a marriage which looked like it was made in heaven falls apart so abruptly!
And the television industry has already seen its equal share of marriages that have ended bizarrely. From the much talked about Rashmi Desai – Nandish Singh, Jennifer Winget – Karan Singh Grover, Shweta Tiwari – Raja Chaudhary separations, we sadly witness one more celebrity couple facing severe marital problems!
Iranian model - actress Mandana Karimi who we’ve seen in movies like Roy, Main aur Charles, Kya Kool Hai Hum 3 and who was also a part of Big Boss 9, got married to her long time boyfriend Gaurav Gupta early this year in March.
Her wedding happened to be a star-studded event; all her friends from Bollywood and the television industry were present on her big day.
But who would have known what fate had planned for Mandana in the coming months of the marriage?
Today, 4 months later, we sadly report about Mandana filing a domestic violence case against her husband Gaurav Gupta who is a Mumbai-based businessman. In her complaint, she has alleged that her in-laws and husband threw her out of her matrimonial house and left her with no money.
In a statement given to a leading daily, she spoke at length about her mother-in-law’s high-handedness towards their marriage, “Yes, she was against our marriage, but I thought things will get better with time. I changed my religion. I accepted Hinduism and our wedding took place according to Hindu rituals. She only allowed us to get married because her son wanted to marry me. And now when she realised that her son is planning to move out of the house and separate the business she told Gaurav either you choose Mandana or me. My husband Gaurav, who doesn't have a spine to choose, decided to stay with his mother. I always joked about evil mother-in-laws from Balaji's daily soaps, but had never imagined that it will happen to me. She used to abuse and insult me. In fact, I was the one who told Gaurav that we will stay with the family. I will work on it. I really tried, but they were always mean to me and never accepted me as part of the family. She used to taunt me 'India mein aisa nahi hota, tum Iran se hona toh tumhe kya pata India ka culture'.”
"When things started becoming bad between us I told him Gaurav lets sit and talk or go on a holiday. Let's spend some time together so that we can sort out the differences, but he always refused giving excuses. I have no clothes, no money and I am staying in an apartment. They all have moved on in life. My husband is busy partying, my mother-in-law is ready to go on a holiday and I am here still trying to contact Gaurav. When I took police to his house they didn't let me in. He didn't allow me to enter even his office. He told one of his friends how dare she brings police to my house," said Mandana.
The actress regrets about quitting her career to get married, “I regret it. It was the most stupid decision that I took in my life. Had I been working, I wouldn’t be dependent on my husband today. I was at the peak of my career when I left everything to marry Gaurav as he didn’t want me to work as an actress. Today, he is in a better position because he has money and I don't. Money gives power and I lost everything when I decided to quit my career. I think no woman should ever stop working," concluded Mandana.
There will be no legitimate explanation for any domestic abuse of a woman ever; and TellyChakkar.com applauds Mandana for putting up a brave front and relating her ordeals to the world. We hope the matter gets mitigated as fast as possible and Mandana is able to overcome all her burden and griefs and live life to the fullest.
