Pankaj Dheer to play cop in Akela

Pankaj Dheer, the sturdy looking actor is all set to play the head cop in Fireworks' next production on Sony christened Akela. "We chose Pankaj Dheer primarily beacause he can match the personality and charisma of Sudhanshu Pandey. He'll play Sudhanshu's boss and he has to look the part. Infact he's played a cop in some of his films and looked the part! He also has a lot of style! One thing we were adamant about was that we wanted actors who haven't been seen on television for sometime," says supervising producer, CID Yash Patnaik.

"I chose to act in Akela (that's the working title of the show) as it's the only show with a lot of guys in it as I don't fit into the saas-bahu soap operas. Besides, it's a chance to prove my mettle. The show has got a fresh approach and it also has a social relevance. I am playing a light hearted, fun loving cop who is the boss of the boys (read Sudhanshu Pandey and Sumeet Raghavan) and I am ready to give the boys a run for their money. It is a manly and different role and I m not playing a typical grim cop that I play in most of my shows," says Pankaj who will don a classy and a swank look in the show but will not be seen in typical cop uniform. The actor will start shooting soon for the show and prior to the shooting the production house will hold a workshop for the actors. Last seen in Kamini Damini on Sahara One with Hema Malini , Pankaj also heads a production house named Karnik Productions which has produced shows like Neeyat and Ek Mulakat.
