His entry went on air on 15 August which also marked the entry of Surendra Thakur who plays Nishambhu. Shumbhu and Nishambhu are two powerful brothers who live in patal (underworld). Talking about his character in the show, Devdatta said, “I was busy shooting for Shivaji and Kala Kalaya Namaha on ETV Marathi when I got a call from the production house (Triangle Film Company) to do this show. Since I was shooting for two shows already I declined the offer initially.” However, when they approached me again, I couldn’t say no. So is he happy with his decision? “I am glad that I accepted the series as my character is very powerful.” We also hear that these characters will mark the birth of Mahakali in the show. Since Shumbhu and Nishambhu cannot be killed by Gods or humans, only a woman can end their lives. Parvati will take the avatar of Kali thereafter. Hence the entries of Devdatta and Surendra are important cameos in the show. The audience can look forward to Parvati’s Kali avatar.
