Time to smile as we bring an exclusive piece of good news for the loyal viewers of Aakash Aath's Ek Masher Golpo!
Readers, the upcoming story for the series is Samaresh Basu’s Baghini. Previously, a film on this novel was made.
We hear actors Piyali Basu and Raj Bhattacharyya have been roped in to play pivotal roles here.
When we buzzed the actors they confirmed the development with us.
Talking about her role, Piyali said to Tellychakkar.com, “I am playing the role of Dugga, which was played by Sandhya Roy in the film.”
When quizzed if she is taking inspiration from Sandhya by watching the film, she said, “I don’t think I can copy the legendary actress. So, I didn’t watch the film as it might influence me. I want to follow what the director says and play it in my own way. Also, we are focusing mainly on the novel.”
“Speaking in a different accent and using slangs are the most challenging part of playing this character. It took me some days to get used to the language,” she added.
When we asked Raj about his role, he shared, “I am playing the role of the OC of Excise Department, which was played by Bikash Roy in the film.”
Raj has earlier worked in two of the stories of Ek Masher Golpo, including Meghe Dhaka Tara and Sanyasi Raja. The former one saw him opposite Piyali.
When we asked him about his opinion on the concept of Ek Masher Golpo, he answered, “Daily soaps may run for two-three years and sometimes may even become monotonous. But such one month series bring more variety to the platter for the viewers and also keeps the excitement alive.”
“And as an actor I am hungry for good roles. So even after being busy with two popular dailies (Zee Bangla's Deep Jwele Jaai and Aamar Durga), I manage my dates to act in such stories.”
Raj added that he is happy to work with Piyali again. He quipped, “Piyali is a good actress and co-star. It’s always a pleasure to work with her.”
Directed by Shibangshu Bhattacharjee, it will air soon.
