The stage has been set for the 6th Karate- DoGojukai World Championship that is being held in India for the first time.
Tellychakkar.com is one of the proud associates for the event. This tournament will see as many as 1,000 participants from across 32 countries participating.
While at the event, we were surprised to spot the daughter of a happening television personality all kicked to participate in the Karate event.
We are talking about the cute seven-year old Sia, daughter of Ram and Gautami Kapoor. It was a proud moment for her parents when little Sia walked inside the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) stadium, along with her mother, wearing the Team India jacket.
In a conversation with Gautami, when we wanted to know about what made her think about letting Sia participate in the championship, she averred, “Nothing was planned. My daughter studies in The Cathedral & John Connon School where Karate is one of the subjects. One day I got a call from her Karate teacher asking whether she could represent India in the championship as she’s fabulous in the sport. And since we’ve never held her back in pursuing what she wants to do, we thought if she is excited and wants to pursue the sport, then why not?”
Karate is not an easy sport for a child to master. Gautami shared some light on what it took Sia to reach the level of representing India.
“I had no clue and was surprised to know of this hidden talent in her. At first, both Ram and I took it lightly. And when she complained about having a body pain, we actually pulled her back from the short listing session and the course also. But then when we received a call from the coach who convinced us saying that she being the youngest in the team could boost the talent she possesses. Later we agreed on her participation. Today I am a proud mother to know that my daughter is representing our nation,” Gautami adds.
Ram also shared his jubilation as he tweeted, “My little angel is representing India in a worldwide karate tournament. I'm soooooo proud!!!”
We wish little Sia all the very best as she performs at NSCI on 14 December. Go for it Sia…
