After her Jeete Hain… relaunch debacle Renuka Shahane has tuned all her energies in writing a script. The actor has completed writing a script for a Marathi film based on her mother Shanta Ghokhale's award winning novel Rita Welingkar. Renuka will also be assisting Ashutosh Gowarikar, who's directing the film.
"So far I've just completed the script and now toiling over the screenplay and dialogues. Ashutosh is currently busy shooting for Jodha Akbar so, we'll start shooting for the film from early next year and it'll go on the floors by the end of year 2008," enunciates Renuka.
Elaborating on the storyline she adds, "It's a women oriented film. Rita is the main protagonist, whose parents are retired and she has to shoulder all the responsibilities of her two young sisters. The plot thickens, when Rita gets involved with a married man. It's a very sensitive story."
Renuka has also zeroed in the lead starcast. "My friend Ajit Bhure will produce the film and it'll be shot completely in Mumbai. Rita's character will be played by Ashwini Kalsekar as while working with her in Jeete… I realized that she's a brilliant actress and suits the best for this role. I've roped in Rajeshwari Badola and Jaya Bhattacharya to play her younger sisters in the film. However, there are only female characters in the novel and same will be retained in the film."
So, does it mean a good bye to daily soaps? She says, "I love doing television and will continue doing the same. It's just that I haven't received any interesting offers after Jeete…"
Any takers?
