MUMBAI: With Independence Day approaching, Krutika Desai, who plays Dhara in Sun Neo's Saajha Sindoor, shares her reflections on the day’s significance. Embracing the spirit of freedom and responsibility, she discusses her celebration plans on set, fond childhood memories, and her admiration for patriotic figures.
When asked about the significance of Independence Day in her life, Krutika Desai said, "Independence Day is a moment to honor our freedom fighters who envisioned an independent India. It represents both freedom and responsibility: the freedom to pursue our dreams and the responsibility to act in the best interests of our society and nation."
Reflecting on her childhood memories, Krutika added, "As a child, I fondly remember celebrating this day in our apartments and schools, participating in races, hoisting the Indian flag, singing the National Anthem, and enjoying pastries and potato wafers. I especially loved wearing tricolor outfits as part of the dress code."
The actress also shared her admiration for patriotic figures, saying, "I look up to Rani Laxmibai, Annie Besant, and Sarojini Naidu. As an actor, I would love to be part of a project that highlights these strong, patriotic women who dedicated their lives to the country's cause. Including a powerful patriotic song in such a project would be wonderful."
On this celebrating the day, Krutika said, “I’ll be celebrating Independence Day on the sets of Sun Neo's Saajha Sindoor. The 2024 theme, ‘Viksit Bharat,’ highlights the vision for a developed nation by 2047. Independence Day is about honoring our achievements and embracing our responsibilities. As we unfurl the tricolor, let’s remember that true freedom lies in upholding values of equality, justice, and brotherhood. India’s diversity is its strength, and while I’m not deeply into politics, it’s clear we’re progressing as a nation under the BJP.”
Saajha Sindoor follows Phooli (Stuti Goyal), a young woman labeled an unmarried widow after her groom dies on their wedding day. As she faces the trials of her fate, the show explores how destiny will shape her journey. With a stellar cast including Sangita Ghosh, Sahil Uppal, Neelu Vaghela, and Krutika Desai, it promises an engaging portrayal of emotions and relationships against the backdrop of Rajasthan's aristocracy.
