During an interview, Shiny Doshi told ETimes TV, “I had never imagined in my life that I would become an actress one day. It was always my mother's dream and she felt that I should do TV. I still remember Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was taking a leap and they were casting Tulsi’s daughter. She pushed me so much for the audition and I cried literally while leaving home and asked her why are you making me do this, I don’t want to do this stuff. I was studying at that time and did not understand these things. I wanted to be a doctor and I would ask her to let me study. But she would take me for different auditions and because of her interest and force I got a portfolio done. When I saw my pictures from my portfolio, I couldn’t recognise myself as I was looking very different. That was one turning point where I felt I had the potential and it gave me a lot of confidence in life to go ahead. I was doing my graduation from Ahmedabad and coming to Mumbai and giving auditions was not easy.”

“I had never stayed in Mumbai, I was born here but I never stayed here to understand the locals and how Mumbai and the industry functions. It was a very different process as wherever I would go, casting directors would ask me for my pictures or would recommend making a card. I’ve gone through that process, I’ve done it and because of that process I got a few projects. I got SaraswatiChandra. It was a very difficult show. I didn’t know how to face the camera or stand according to the light. I had no technical knowledge. I learnt everything on the job by observing people. I would watch Jennifer Winget or Gautam Rode perform. The show had Alpna Buch, Yatin Karyekar, the show had stalwarts that became my learning ground. During that time I realised that I think I am made for this,” she added.
