The hot and dashing Samir Kochhar is all set to get back on Indian Television to do what he does the best – anchoring. This IPL star was seen on the small screen in Sony Entertainment Televisions’ Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (Balaji Telefilms). But with the IPL fever rising with every passing day, the sports anchor is getting back on the cricket field. Yes, you heard it right. Samir will be hosting the sixth season of Indian Premier League. Hence, we at Tellychakkar.com got in touch with this handsome man to know about his IPL plans. Back on IPL? “Yes, I am back and this sixth season is going to be long and different. There will be magic in the air and firecrackers all around. Last season KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) won the tournament. It will be interesting to watch who takes it away this season. Plus we have two more venues to add up to the excitement. The batsmen will get more aggressive and so will the bowlers. Plus the TV viewers will get to watch me on my show Extraaa Innings T20. We have an interesting panel this season,” said Samir. He further went on to add, “It will be such a great mix of events with cricketers from different countries coming to play the game. Plus biggies from Bollywood will show up in big numbers.” On the thought of IPL players not performing well in test cricket, Samir stated, “I think they can adapt to things. In fact IPL has managed to open new avenues for cricket. Shane Watson, Shaun Marsh and David Warner got an opportunity to play better cricket in their respective countries because of their performances in IPL. I think T20 makes you more aggressive, while test cricket is the purest form of cricket. At the same time a cricketer’s span to play on the field is just limited to seven to eight years in which they have to make money.” On whether talks of matches being rigged bother him, the dashing anchor explained, “Not at all, I have been a part of these tournaments for four to five years now and I have spent a lot of time with the players. Everybody wants to perform here and the wicket keepers want to save the boundaries. When people say such things it does not bother me even though some incidents have happened in the past. But when you are playing 20-20 things happen. People do miss catches and there are boundaries in the last over.” Well if Samir ever had to form a Bollywood cricket team it would include these names. “I have played CCL (Celebrity Cricket League) so I know the best from the industry. Hence, in my team Sunil Shetty will be the captain. I will have Shabbir (Ahluwalia), Aftab (Shivdasani) and Ritesh Deshmukh as they are good players. Aditya Roy Kapoor is a very good bowler so he will be a part of my team too. Plus, I’d like to have Sonu Sood; though he is injured at the moment he is a very good player.” Talking about the TV industry he further said, “I would like to take Ayaz Khan as he is a dear friend, Kavita Kaushik, Gaurav Kapoor, Cyrus Shahukar and Archana Vijaya. I would just want Archana to distract the other team players (laughs).” When we asked him about roping in Ram Kapoor he laughed and said, “Ram will be useless on the ground. I can just ask him to be our coach so that he eats up all our food and we remain fit.” When asked if he likes acting or anchoring more he averred, “I had come to Mumbai from Delhi to be a film actor and that will be my passion. People thought I was good enough to do other things too, so I went on to be a part of travel shows and a soap, being my latest. However, I have a film project lined up and I will start working on it post IPL.” On asked about the platform having big money, he quickly said, “I would say anchoring involves big money, though they are two different things all together. Anchoring is limited to two or three months, while serials go on for a year or more. Having said this, I like both.” Lastly, Samir talked about his sleek look this season, “Shahid Amir, my designer, has given me a new look. You will see me in savvy suits. I am also keeping my hair short this time as it was the other way around last season. In simple words, I am going to have fun with my look.” All the girls out there, watch out for Samir this season!!!
