MUMBAI: Television viewers love Sanjeeda Shaikh and Aamir Ali as a couple. Therefore, you can only imagine how devastated their followers were to discover that they had filed for divorce in 2020. Before deciding to divorce, Sanjeeda and Aamir had been married for eight years.
In a joint interview given on their marriage, Aamir and Sanjeeda, revealed that Aamir had undergone significant changes following the wedding, and in a good way. She disclosed that he became more expressive since they were married.
“I have known him since the last 10 years. He has changed a lot after marriage. He was never an expressive person, and I think I have helped him become one. I am very vocal about what I feel, and wanted my partner to be like that as well. Now, he has become an expert in surprising me. For me, romance is all about spending quality time with your partner. When we were dating, after shooting for 16 hours, I would ensure that I spent at least one hour with him every few days a week,” Sanjeeda told the popular news portal in 2016.
Aamir agreed that after they were married, he had grown a far more romantic side. Describing his feelings for her, Aamir stated, “I love her positive attitude towards life. It’s amazing. I hope she stops being so touchy. Perhaps it’s a girlie habit.” Sanjeeda revealed she loved Aamir’s honesty.
“I love his honesty, and the way he treats me. I want him to remain the way he is. My friends tell me that they want a boyfriend or a husband like Aamir. I would like him to be less hyper though. He is a cleanliness freak, which is good, but I am not as particular,” she said.
Sanjeeda and Aamir dated for several years before getting married in 2012. After eight years of marriage, the couple separated in 2020, and in 2021 they were granted a divorce. Ayra Ali, their daughter, is under Sanjeeda's custody. She recently shared details about her post-divorce life.
She told the popular entertainment portal, “I feel I am very lucky (to have emerged from) whatever happened with me. Maybe I felt then that I was the most depressed person, or I was very sad, or, ‘What is happening with me, what is happening with my life?’ But to overcome all of that and to be happy with this version of myself, I am blessed.”
