SHOCKING! I didn’t get cast because my complexion is dusky: TV actress Hina Khan

MUMBAI: We all may remember Akshara from Star Plus’ popular and one of the longest running shows Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The famous role of Akshara was essayed by none other than Hina Khan. Hina is currently one of the most financially successful actresses in the television industry.

Hina has starred in several TV programmes, and she most recently appeared in the song video Main Bhi Barbaad. The actress was seen opposite Angad Bedi in the song, which received a lot of attention because of her fashion statement. 

But she revealed how she was once rejected because of her dusky skin in an interview with ETimes. Hina said that she was turned down because she has dark skin and the project was about a Kashmiri girl.

She recalled the project and revealed  “I can’t talk about the project, but I remember I could not crack a project because I didn’t look Kashmiri enough. I am Kashmiri and I can fluently speak the language but I didn’t get cast because my complexion is dusky and I am not extremely fair. That’s what the team and character demanded.”

Hina also mentioned that she was upset with it as she knew the language required for the role. She also stated that she didn’t get cast only because she doesn't look Kashmiri, but she will keep on trying.

On the workfront, Hina was also seen in the song Baarish Ban Jaana opposite Shaheer Sheikh.
