MUMBAI: Actress Sumukhi Pendse, who plays the character of Rajeshwari Maheshwari, in the show Pukaar- Dil Se Dil Tak, says that the show has an emotional angle that everyone relates to. She says that a family drama intertwined with suspense, such as this one, works wonders with the audience. “
’Pukaar - Dil Se Dil Tak’ is a heartfelt call from a mother to her daughters. They were separated at the age of 5 due to an accident, and for the past 20 years, the mother has been searching for them. This show captures a mother's deep yearning to reconnect with her daughters. It promises to ensure that a mother's call reaches her daughters' hearts. The story is a family drama with an element of suspense, exploring how the girls were separated, the obstacles keeping them apart, who is behind these obstacles, and how they will eventually overcome them to reunite. It's a very interesting and engaging storyline,” she says.
Talking about the title of the show, she says, “Pukaar – Dil Se Dil Tak," as mentioned earlier, is a mother's heartfelt call to her daughters. It's an emotional drama throughout, emphasising the deep bond and longing between a mother and her children. The title reflects this significance, capturing the essence of a mother's unwavering call to her daughters.” Ask her what prompted her to take up the show, she says, “When I was approached for this show, they told me about the character "Rajeshwari." She is a business magnate who has elevated the company, "Maheshwari Masalas," to its current status. Thanks to her hard work, Maheshwari Masalas is now renowned throughout the country and is even gaining momentum overseas. Rajeshwari is a successful businesswoman and the head of the Maheshwari clan, bearing dual responsibilities for both the business and the family. She is the driving force behind both. Her business is her baby, and she will use any means necessary to ensure its success. She is very clear that the business is hers, she lives for it, and it is her family's legacy. She will go to any lengths for her business and family, without hesitation. Rajeshwari is a cold-blooded business tycoon, but she also has a softer side as the family's matriarch. This duality is what makes her character interesting. She is the chief antagonist in the show, and playing an antagonist after a long time is exciting. I enjoy playing negative roles; it allows me to channel my frustrations in front of the camera, making it easier to be a good person in real life.”
She adds, “I have a dominating personality, and my green eyes add to this impression. Casting directors often see me as someone who cannot appear weak or helpless on screen, but rather as someone who can exert power and control. This perception works well for negative roles, which I enjoy playing. When I was told about this intriguing character in Pukaar, I knew it would be an emotional journey. Rajeshwari is kind to her family but ruthless in business, and this combination appealed to me, so I accepted the role.” Talking about her character, she says, “My character, "Rajeshwari Maheshwari," is a business magnate. She carries herself with great poise and has a regal approach to life. Her style is very sophisticated, and as a grandmother, she wears traditional saris. Rajeshwari opts for a conventional look and carries herself with grace.” Meanwhile, she adds that Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah are young dynamic producers, and it's amazing to work with them. “It's great to have young producers because I believe that a young team brings a high level of enthusiasm and a clear understanding of what the audience wants. This is evident in the way the initial episodes have been scripted. The content in the first two episodes is fantastic; it feels like watching a film rather than a daily soap. I would like to tell the audience that if you miss the first five episodes, you'll miss a lot of the storyline, as so much happens in those episodes. By the sixth episode, you might feel lost because the story moves quickly in the first five episodes. Working with a young team like Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah is wonderful. They are great at their job, and we have an excellent technical team. It's great to work with such a highly committed team,” he says.
She adds, “I would like the audience to stay tuned to Sony Entertainment Television, Monday to Friday at 8:30 PM, and watch our show "Pukaar - Dil Se Dil Tak." Please shower us with your love and support. We are confident and hopeful that we will meet your expectations.”
