MUMBAI: India's longest-running TV serial, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, is produced by Neela Tele Films Private Limited. The show is running since 28 July 2008 on SAB TV. Taarak Mehta has been a big hit on television because of the funny plot, its quirky characters, excellent script, and brilliant direction. Every character in the show has a unique identity, and viewers love them.
The show has undergone many changes in these ten years; some characters have quit the show and one recently passed away. Here are some of the changes that the show saw.
Dayaben aka Disha Vakani went on maternity leave a few months ago and was sorely missed by her fans. Her jokes and queer way of speaking have made her a favorite of viewers.
Bhavya Gandhi, popularly known as Tapu, quit the show. After being associated with the serial for eight years, the actor quit the show, as he wanted to do something new and challenging.
Jheel Mehta, who played the role of Mr. and Mrs. Bhide's daughter Sonu, also left the show, as she wanted to focus on her studies. She was replaced by Nidhi Bhanushali in 2012.
Gurucharan Singh, who essayed the role Sodhi, quit the show, as he had some differences with the producer and was later replaced by Laad Singh Maan. Subsequently, the actor and producer sorted out their differences and Gurucharan joined the show as Sodhi again.
Jennifer Mistry, who played the role of Mrs. Roshan, quit the show, as she was pregnant. She was replaced by actress Dilkhush in 2013, but after some time, she came back on the show.
The worst tragedy to hit the show was the sudden demise of Kavi Kumar Azaad, who played the role of Dr. Hathi. The makers recently signed Nirmal Soni to play the role.
Just a few months ago, the show completed 10 years, but the team didn’t celebrate it as a respect the late Kavi.
Thus, although the show has seen many changes, it stands firm on the TRP charts.
