MUMBAI: Actor Vikram Mastal who played the role of Hanuman in Anand Sagar’s Ramayan became a household name due to his on screen avatar. After starring in the classic television series, Vikram was often recognised as Hanuman everywhere he went.
On how people started treating him as Hanuman, actor Vikram Mastal says, “Ramayan became a hit overnight. The show made me so popular, that people actually felt that I was Hanuman. They use to touch my feet and seek for blessings and considered me as real life Hanuman.”

Remembering one such particular incident, Vikram says, “I remember one particular incident where a 70-year old man touched my feet to seek blessings. I was just 21 at that time, but the strength and power of my character made people believe that I was indeed Lord Hanuman. Even the crew on set started treating me as Hanuman. My crew once told me that if they ever had to visualise Hanuman in a human avatar, it would be me. I considered this to be one of the greatest compliment ever received.”
Anand Sagar’s Ramayan is entertaining million viewers once again. The role of Hanuman in Ramayan is one of the most exciting bits as he is a steadfast devotee of Lord Ram and plays a major role in the battle against Ravan.
Ramayan, the epic tale of promises and ideologies is aired every evening at 7.30pm and repeat telecast at 9.30am only on Dangal channel.
