There is no straight line between TV to Bollywood: Avinash Mukherjee

Avinash Mukherjee

MUMBAI: Avinash Mukherjee entered showbiz when he was just 11 and has been in the industry for over a decade already. The young star, who has already become a household name because of his excellent performances on the telly, aspires to make it big in Bollywood too. But he says there is no straight line between TV to Bollywood and mentioned that an actor needs to disappear completely from TV if they want to make it big in the Hindi film industry.

He mentioned that both the industries are different in it's place and said, "TV is in its place and Bollywood is in its place, both are a different game all together, so there is no transition, nor a shift from TV to Bollywood. There is no straight line between TV to Bollywood, it’s a different world altogether. I plan to do so when I will be 26 or 27. There are a few things which needs to taken care of, like you need to be not seen on television, you need to work on your looks, people need to accept you as a mainstream Indian hero and once that is done, then a good script can make it possible."

The "Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki" actor who feels that the struggle will always be there suggested that one needs to be content and happy with what they are doing, but they shouldn't be satisfied.

"Struggle is everywhere even Amitabh Bachchan sir says he is struggling, Shahrukh Khan says that he is still learning, so every day is a struggle to become better than yesterday. If you ask any human being, he will say that whatever I am doing I don’t like it, I wish I was somewhere else. So that constant discontentment is there, but I think once you are content with what you are doing and keep working where you want to be, you will be happy. Be happy but don’t be satisfied because satisfaction can kill your desire to work harder."

The actor, who was recently also seen in web show "Ratri Ke Yatri', feels it's important for an actor to be experimental. He said, "It’s very important to be experimental. My recent venture, 'Ratri Ke Yatri' on Hungama Play, was an experiment and it turned out really well, people have been really liking and admiring the story and my performance. It’s so overwhelming. Even in 'Shakti...', the look and character is very different, and after every episode, I am flooded with calls and messages, where people tell me how much they love watching me in it."

Avinash is popularly known for his portrayal as the young Jagya in the social drama "Balika Vadhu". The show became a major hit for the issue it talked about. When the actor was questioned if he feels the content on television is still very regressive, he said, "I don’t think the content on television is very regressive, it wouldn’t have been shown in many countries worldwide as it is dubbed in many languages. As long as it’s matching the sensibility and the feedings of Indian we are good to go."

Lastly, asked him if he thinks the TV industry will change in the coming years, he said, "In the last five years it has changed so much and I think television in the next five years will change more than it has changed in the past 30 years. We need to be ready for it but at the end of the day we need to understand the audience's choice."
