At times, I act dumb and don’t understand the most basic things: Fenil Umrigar

A page from the personal diary of Fenil Umrigar Hello everyone, this is Fenil Umrigar whom you guys know as Sanjana Roy, the smart and intelligent character in Best Friends Forever (BFF) on Channel [V]. Today I am here to talk about myself. Born and brought up in Surat, I had to shift to Mumbai when I was offered to play the role of Sweety in Maryada for Star Plus in 2010. Before getting into acting, I was in the field modeling; also did a few print ads. One day, my best friend told me to post some of my best modeling pictures on the Balaji website. Soon, I was called for an audition and got selected for Maryada to play the character of Sweety. Ironically, her character was almost similar to that of mine because I too believe in living life happily and giving respect to parents. To begin with, acting, for me, was a little tough but now I have grown with it. Though none from my family is in this profession but I am doing pretty well on television and the prime reason behind this is that my family has been very supportive. Since my childhood, I always wanted to enter this glamour world. Even in my school days when we used to write about our dreams in a scrap book, I had expressed a desire to be famous and beautiful. But, never in my dreams, did I think that I will come so far and get into acting for the small screen. I am a family oriented girl. Even here in Mumbai, I stay with my mother and take her along with me on sets. My mother is my inspiration and she has always supported me in very small or big decision of mine. For me, Sanjana’s character in BFF is the best and I consider that show as one of my favourites. Sanjana is a character which defines me. I am like Sanjana in real life; the only difference between the two is that Sanjana is more intelligent than me Fenil. I am not ashamed in mentioning this but I do feel that, at times, I act dumb and don’t understand the most basic things. I love being on the sets of BFF because Charlie, Shritama and me are like best friends in real life too and we do lot of dhamaal and masti (fun & frolic) with our director and other crew members on the sets. I have always been like this; a very happy go lucky kind of girl. Even in Saubhagyavati Bhava, my character name was Priya who was a very quiet and innocent kind of a character, but as soon as the camera was switched off, I used to start kidding around with my crew.
