The curtain raiser Santoshi Mata ke Darshan, Tulsi ke sang will be hosted by Smrti Irani. According to XL Media director and the show's creative director Tarun Shahani (pictured with Smritti in the photograph), weeks went into researching into facts around Santoshi Maa and the film from way back in 1975 from various publishing houses and archives. The Special episode will feature Smriti on location in the temple used in the film and it is sprinkled with interviews with Mahendra Kapoor, Usha Mangeshkar (who sang most of the songs in the film), Ramesh Sippy (as the release of Jai Santoshi Maa coincided with the release of Sholay in 1975), the film's producer Satram Rohra, and from Santoshi Maa devotees. The Santoshi Mata ke Darshan, Tulsi ke sang one time special episode will be aired on Star Plus on 3 June at 6 pm and on Star Gold on 4 June at 12.30 pm, followed by the film itself on Star Gold on Sunday at 1:00pm.
