TV actors say tauba tauba to Bigg Boss

Cult reality show Bigg Boss has certainly hiked the TRPs of Colors, but it has also provided inmates with a platform to gain immense popularity. Names like Pravesh Rana, Seema Parihar, Kamaal R Khan (KRK), Payal Rohatgi and Vindu Dara Singh shot to fame, thanks to their superb performances and histrionics in the Bigg Boss house. However, there are many TV actors who don’t like to wash their dirty linen in public and prefer to shun away from the policy of short cut to fame. Actor Varun Badola is one such actor who feels that his participation in such a reality show will set a wrong example of gaining popularity. “Innumerable strugglers come to Mumbai with a dream to achieve something and they look up to us and follow our footsteps. So if I am offered the show, I will not go for it,” says Varun. Chhavi Mittal, famous for her role as Disha in Hamari Disha in Zee TV, shares a similar opinion, “I don’t understand how one can reveal their personnel life on television.” Well, we too are trying to find answer to your query, Chhavi. But it seems that TV viewers love the world of voyeurism, sexual escapades and catfights. There are other actors who have been approached to lock themselves up in the house of scandals. But they chose respect over fame and money and decided to say ‘no’. Model turned actress Gauhar Khan was approached for Bigg Boss season 3, but denied due to varied reasons. “The house is extremely unhygienic,” feels Gauhar. Furthermore, she opines that the housemates keep provoking each other and enter into unnecessary fights. On the other hand, model and Channel [V] VJ Pia Trivedi feels she is not Bigg Boss material at all. “I can’t take the pressure of being under the eye of cameras all day long and living with strangers for three months continuously,” says Pia. Incidentally, she had been offered participation in season 3 and 4 but rejected both the time. However, she is currently watching the show for friend Shonali Nagrani, who has been inside the house for almost a month. “I am hoping she goes till the end,” tells Pia. Great, so at least there are some who don’t believe in cheap publicity. But if you flip the coin, Bigg Boss has always been a ground to gain popularity. Well, to each his own, we guess!!!
