TV celebs wish Happy Lohri

Amidst the freezing cold weather and the dense fog in Northern India, the time of the year has arrived when all the Punjabis in the country light bonfires and pray to the Lord of Fire. Tellychakkar.com speaks to Punjabi television celebrities on how they plan to celebrate the festival today. Rohit Khurana: Since my family lives in Delhi, I will be celebrating the occasion with my close friends here in Mumbai. I will perform the rituals, make merry, dance and dine at a friend’s place. Achint Kaur: I have been travelling and have just landed in Mumbai minutes back. If I manage to finish my work, I would attend Roopa Vohra’s party, she has invited me for Lohri celebration. Ankit Bathla: I am away from my family so it is difficult to celebrate it with as much fervor as being with your loved ones. However, yesterday a popular suburban restaurant, Punjab Grill had a Lohri night for which I was invited as the chief guest. I am shooting today so I will meet my friends for some time in the evening. Anupriya Kapoor: My grandparents passed away last year and we have a ritual of not celebrating festivals for a year on account of any death in the family. So I would not be celebrating Lohri this year. Karan Mehra: Had I been in Noida, I would have definitely been a part of the ritual but today I am a little busy finishing some personal work and have no plans as of now. However, I and Nisha (wife) might plan to meet some friends tonight. Hunar Hali: The celebration and excitement of Lohri is in Delhi. Here in Mumbai, this festival is more like not celebrating Lohri. I might catch up with some friends in the evening. Karan Tacker: It’s my sister’s first Lohri after marriage so our family and my brother-in-law’s family will have a get-together and celebrate this festival. We have called for the Amritsari mithai and revdi all the way from Uttar Pradesh. Pooja Bedi: I have been invited by Jewellery designer, Roopa Vohra to celebrate Lohri and I am looking forward to it as I think the entire concept of this celebration is fascinating. Also, I love throwing til in the bonfire on this occasion. Paras Chabbra: This is the first time I will celebrate a festival in Mumbai and not Delhi. I have a few friends from Punjab here who celebrate Lohri in a huge way, just as it is celebrated in Punjab. I and Sara (Khan) have been invited and I am very excited to celebrate Lohri. We will perform the ritual and dance to the tunes of the dholwalas who have come all the way from Delhi. Kamya Punjabi: I am not well, so would be resting at home. However, I will wish my family, close friends and relatives over the phone. Vikas Manaktala: Lohri for me is a festival where you get rid of all the negativity in your life and start with a new mind set. Every year we have a small get-together with family and close friends. This year I will be busy shooting but I will try and make some time to celebrate with my close friends. Rajma Chawal is my favorite dish during Lohri. Poonam Dhillion: Lohri is a really special festival for me as I have some of the fondest memories with my mother. I love the traditional delicacies like the revaris, mungfali and love singing ‘Sunder munderiye’ around the bonfire in the pleasant weather.
