Vaibhav Sharma: My Growth Has Been Slow and Steady

MUMBAI: Actor Vaibhav Sharma, who was last seen in the movie Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor and will be part of the upcoming international movie I Am No Queen, says that his journey has been slow and steady, and he loves it that way. He believes in destiny. “My growth has been slow and steady, but at the same time, I believe that there’s a timeline for everyone and nothing comes before that. If I think about it deeply, I’d say it is well-written by the Almighty, but as human beings, we always want things to happen our way,” he says.

When asked if he regularly checks TRP ratings, reviews of his projects, or feedback on social media, he responds, “I do check my social media regularly. I watch my work on TV and review it myself because that way I can critique it or sometimes be happy with my performance. I would say, as an artist, I am always learning and evolving. An artist can never reach a level where they can say, ‘This is the best anyone could do!’ Of course, there are instances where some performances have become legendary, but that’s also a matter of perspective.”

He adds, “As an artist, growth is a continuous and lifelong phenomenon, so for me, improvement goes hand in hand with growth.”

The actor shares that negative feedback has never bothered him much. “A real artist shouldn’t be concerned with that. Also, people love giving opinions and feedback, but, on the contrary, most of them don’t even know what they are talking about. Moreover, if someone doesn’t have the knowledge or training, their opinions or feedback are as good as dead rubber. That being said, an artist should definitely know what they have done wrong in terms of their work, performance, and actions in their lives,” he says.

He adds, “I am a bit scared of being trolled, but I know that this is part of showbiz. We have to accept that and move on. Negative criticism and trolling come with praise and appreciation as well. Both go hand in hand.”
