MUMBAI: Television actor Vihan Verma has urged everyone to celebrate Diwali in an eco-friendly way. In a recent interview, Vihan explained that there is a need to consider the harmful effects of firecrackers before buying any. He mentioned that it not only degrades our environment but also is a waste of money.
"I believe the best way to celebrate is by spending time with loved ones, surrounded by delicious food and drinks. Bursting crackers not only harms the environment but is also a waste of money. Additionally, many animals are affected by the loud noises, and it’s not fair to make them feel unsafe," he said.
Vihan admitted that even though he used to burst crackers as a child, he has now understood that it does no good to our environment. "Over the years, I’ve come to understand the importance of protecting our environment from the noise and pollution caused by these firecrackers. Now, we refrain from bursting crackers altogether, opting for just a few shagun ki fuljaddi instead," he shared.
The young star further requested all to spend Diwali with their loved ones. He also argued that it might be a good idea to visit an orphanage during Diwali so that those without families can also feel special.
"Spending time with loved ones and enjoying good food is key. Visiting orphanages and old age homes is also a wonderful initiative, as many people there may not have anyone to celebrate with during the festival. As we say, it’s not just my Diwali; it’s OUR Diwali. We should extend our support to those less fortunate during these times," he added.
Vihan Verma is known for shows like Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin. He used to play the role of Mohit in the show which also starred Aishwarya Sharma and Neil Bhatt in the lead.
