MUMBAI: Television heartthrob Vivek Dahiya, best known for his acclaimed roles in popular shows like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, has once again won over fans—this time not just with his charm, but with his honesty.

The actor, who recently appeared in a romantic music video that’s made waves among admirers, has opened up about a deeply personal struggle he faced during the lockdown period.

Vivek, who also impressed audiences with his dance moves on the reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, revealed in a candid interview that he found himself slipping into a pattern of alcohol dependency during the pandemic a far cry from the disciplined lifestyle he is known for.

Speaking openly, he explained that he was never a regular drinker, usually only indulging at social events. However, being confined at home during the lockdown with a fully stocked bar proved to be a turning point.

“My father once told me to build a good bar at home, especially since I travel a lot and enjoy collecting limited-edition bottles. During lockdown, I looked at it and thought if anything were to happen to me, all this expensive alcohol would go to waste,” he shared.

What began as casual drinking soon evolved into a nightly ritual accompanied by a film or series—which gradually impacted his overall wellbeing. “It started to affect my sleep, metabolism, and worst of all, my workout routine,” Vivek admitted. “Fitness is an integral part of my life I genuinely can’t go without it.”

His revelation highlights the lesser-spoken mental and emotional toll the pandemic had on many, even those who appeared to have it all together.

While Vivek has been away from television screens for some time now, his fans remain eager for his return.
