Who will win the battle of TRPs - Shah Rukh or Salman Khan?

Television is presently at a phase where the ‘Khans’ are having their ‘say’ when it comes the Television Rating Points (TRP). While last week (Week 2) saw Salman Khan repeat the success of Dabangg 2 on the small screen with the Grand Finale of Bigg Boss (secured a high 4.4 TVR) on Colors, the week gone by (ratings of which will hit this Wednesday, 23 January) saw the glitter and glamour of Colors’ Screen Awards wherein the other Khan, Shah Rukh Khan tried to mesmerize viewers with his flamboyant hosting.

As we know, Salman Khan and the finale of Bigg Boss took Colors to the #1 position last week with a GRP of 245, when compared to Star Plus’ which stood at 241 GRP. So will Shah Rukh Khan and Screen Awards be able to keep Colors at the top for the second week running? We will know about it this Wednesday.. But for now, we can only talk about what we saw on television over the weekend. What did Screen Awards offer to the audience? Well, there was quite a lot in offer at the awards. First of all, Priyanka Chopra’s 100 feet act provided the ‘Wow’ feeling. There was Ranbir Kappor’s moment too wherein he danced his way through with the Great Lady Helen and of course, his mother Neetu Singh. SRK-Namrata Rao’s friendly banter on stage was indeed the talk of the town. And ‘Ouch’, the moment when Priyanka Chopra kissed Shah Rukh followed by Gauri Khan’s ‘disappearing act’ when Priyanka took to the stage for her performance indeed raised a few eyebrows. And last but not the least, a lot was expected from Shah Rukh Khan and his hosting expertise. But according to the ‘word of mouth’, SRK was not in his convincing best as a host. Well, coming back to the big question now.. Will SRK manage to say… Jab Tak Hai Jaan on television? We will wait and watch… While Colors have had their moments with Bigg Boss and Screen Awards, Star Plus we hear, has a jackpot up their sleeve as plan to air the big-ticket film Son of Sardaar in the coming week. Aah, that’s for the future. We now await release of ratings this week to know whether the ‘Big Stars’ continue to cast their spell on TV buffs…
