Winning a prestigious dance show like Jhalak gives me a high: Drashti Dhami

Television’s own Madhubala, Drashti Dhami with considerable help from her nimble-footed choreographer Salman Yusuff Khan walked away on Saturday night as the winner of Season 6 of Colors’ closely-contested dance reality-show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (BBC Worldwide Productions). The grand finale was not free of its share of unexpected drama when it was announced suddenly that judge Madhuri Dixit had to leave as her father had passed away. Minutes later Drashti whose serial Madhubala on Colors is a craze, won the grand finale. We spoke to her after the victory. The pretty model-television actress was confident and poised after walking away with the Rs 50 lakh prize money. Said Drashti, “Of course I am elated. And in a state of disbelief. Right now it’s too early yet for the reality to sink in. Maybe later from now I’ll realize I’ve actually won Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa after weeks and months of hard work.” Drashti’s entire family barring her mom, was present to witness her moment of triumph. “My family and close friends were with me. I feel so complete in my happiness right now. I had to report for shooting for my serial at 8 am in the morning. But that did not stop me from partying on the night of victory with those I love,” Drashti said calmly. Did she feel that this victory would add to her fan-base? Drashti protested, “I already have my share of supporters and fans because of my serial. I don’t think that would change because of this show. But yes, winning such a prestigious dance show does give me a high. Right now I’ve no idea what I am going to do with the prize money, or would I pursue my dancing. Please don’t ask me these things right now. All I know is, I love the feeling of having won.” Incidentally Ranbir Kapoor had predicted Drashti’s victory when he came on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. “I remember that moment very well.
