Working in TV makes one instantly popular: Rafi Malik

Rafi Malik
The soon to be launched show Desh Ki Beti Nandini (Rashmi Sharma Productions) on Sony Entertainment Television is all set to see another new face entering the TV industry. And the one we are talking about is the very good looking Rafi Malik, who will star opposite Keerti Nagpure in the above mentioned show. Rafi who has been modeling for the last one and a half years is pretty much excited about his debut on the small screen. Talking exclusively to Tellychakkar.com the lad from Bhopal says, “It is indeed a proud moment for me to get this show. My character Rajveer Raghuvanshi belongs to a Royal Rajput family who has come from USA and how he gets involved in the political turmoil will be for the viewers to see.” Talking about his acting aspirations he adds, “I have been into modeling and was also among the finalists in Gladrags Mega Model Hunt in 2011. After a successful stint in ramp shows I decided to try my luck in acting, and here I am playing the lead in this show after auditioning for a number of other serials. Since the makers were looking for a new face I think I got pretty lucky with this project. The best part is I can completely relate to the character I am playing and thus don’t even have to give too much effort to act.” So is the character based on the men of the Gandhi family, we questioned. “Not at all, the character has any resemblance to them or even Ranbir’s character in Rajneeti that people are suggesting. It’s a completely different character and I am sure people are going to enjoy the show most definitely.” So is he interested in the politics of our country? “Not really, but both my parents are actively involved in it. My parents are really proud to see me reach this phase, and my mom is so excited to see her son on TV now.” The pilot of the show was shot in Bhopal, so it was rather a homecoming for him, as he avers, “It's a happy coincidence for me. I'm starting my acting career shooting in my hometown. I couldn't have asked for more. I feel so honoured and proud and yes, it feels great to become the talk of the town,” he smiles. As we conclude, we get curious on why a good looking guy like him chose to debut on TV rather than films. To which he confidently informs, “In films you cannot survive without a Godfather, and thankfully TV gives chance to every talented person. It would have been a risk to straight jump in films; I would rather build up my skills on TV now. And with the amount of mass attention you get on small screen, you become instantly popular.” Well said Rafi, and we at Tellychakkar.com would like to welcome you to Telly town.
