MUMBAI: Popular singer and television personality Rahul Vaidya, best known for his impactful journey on Bigg Boss, has once again found himself in the spotlight this time, however, not for his performances but due to a social media controversy involving cricket icon Virat Kohli.
Vaidya, who earned widespread admiration as the first runner-up on Bigg Boss, went on to captivate audiences with his daring stint on Khatron Ke Khiladi, cementing his place as a household name in the Indian entertainment sphere.
Currently, he’s winning hearts on Laughter Chef: Season 2, where his delightful pairing with actress Rubina Dilaik has been met with warm reception and praise from fans.
But the singer’s recent remarks have stirred trouble. Rahul allegedly made a comment referring to Kohli as a “joker” after the cricketer liked a photo shared by actress Avneet Kaur.
The statement quickly made waves online, igniting strong reactions from Kohli’s supporters and netizens alike.
In the wake of the backlash, Rahul issued a clarification, stating that his comment had been misunderstood and was never meant to offend. Despite his explanation, the damage appears to have been done.
In a show of solidarity with Kohli, cricketers Yuzvendra Chahal and Krunal Pandya have reportedly unfollowed Vaidya on social media.
The move has only fuelled speculation that Rahul’s comment hasn’t gone down well within sporting circles either.
As the controversy continues to unfold, it seems Vaidya’s unintended dig may be costing him dearly—not just in terms of public sentiment, but also in his social media following.
With fans turning their backs and celebrities distancing themselves, Rahul now faces the brunt of a moment he perhaps didn’t anticipate would snowball this far.
