Readers, gear up for a thriller this weekend!
The next original feature film is Debaloy Bhattacharya’s Moni Kanchana, starring Sreeparna Roy, Sourav Das in lead roles and Rupankar Bagchi in a pivotal role.
Yes, you noticed it right!
Popular singer Rupankar has acted in a film for the first time. He will be seen as the narrator of the film and plays the intriguing character of a police inspector.
Now coming to the plot, it will narrate the journey of a couple, Roop and Moni, who will marry each other following family pressure. Things won’t be fine between them after marriage because of Moni’s unpredictable behaviour, who remains untraceable frequently without any whereabouts.
One day Roop would discover Moni's lookalike, a girl named Kanchana and this would make the situation more confusing.
Problems would arise when a police inspector would knock at his door investigating a murder case apparently committed by Kanchana, the lookalike of Moni. Whether Moni and Kanchana are the same person or not is what the viewers would know after watching the film.
About Rupankar, the director said, “While writing the script, we had just penned down a very interesting layered character, with no one particular in mind. But the more we thought about it during casting, Rupankar seemed more like a probable choice. His deadpan face with piercing eyes and mysterious smile; his casual attitude, and most importantly, the voice.. all of it made him a perfect choice for the role.”
“Rupankar seemed surprisingly keen when we approached him, and was all game after the script was narrated to him. We really hope that you will love his performance and the film as a whole as well,” he added.
The film will be aired on 10th July, 9 pm, Zee Bangla Cinema.
